Run Upsun Dispatch on your Claude plan's monthly API credits

If you pay for Claude Max or Claude Team, Anthropic now includes monthly Claude API credits with your plan. Upsun Dispatch runs on your own Anthropic API key, so you can point it at those credits and stop paying separately for tokens.

Setup takes about five minutes.

Anthropic documentation: Monthly API credits for Max and Team plans (Help Center) and API credits for Max and Team plans (Claude Platform docs).

Who qualifies

  • Max 5x: $100 a month
  • Max 20x: $200 a month
  • Team, Standard seat: $20 per seat a month
  • Team, Premium seat: $100 per seat a month

Team credits pool into one balance, capped at $500 a month. Free, Pro and Enterprise plans don't get API credits. See Anthropic's eligibility details.

You also need:

  • At least seven days on an eligible plan
  • On Max: to be the subscriber. On Team: to be an Owner or Primary Owner
  • If you subscribed through the iOS or Android app, to claim on claude.ai in a web browser

Step 1: Claim your credits

  1. Sign in to claude.ai.
  2. Go to Settings > Billing. On Team, go to Organization settings > Billing.
  3. In the API credits section, select Link organization.
  4. Pick an existing Claude Console organization or create a new one.
  5. Review the Supplemental Credit Terms and confirm.

Choose the organization carefully. You can link only one, and changing it later means contacting Anthropic support.

If linking fails, sign in to the Claude Console with the same email you use on claude.ai, then try again.

Anthropic's guide: Monthly API credits for Max and Team plans.

Step 2: Check the credits landed

  1. Sign in to the Claude Console.
  2. Go to Settings > Billing.
  3. Find your balance under Promotional credits.

Credits arrive shortly after each plan payment.

Step 3: Create an API key

  1. In the Console, open API keys.
  2. Make sure you're in the organization you linked in step 1.
  3. Select Create key.
  4. Name it something you'll recognize, like upsun-dispatch.
  5. Set an expiration and, if you use workspaces, pick one.
  6. Copy the key. It starts with sk-ant- and the Console shows it only once.

If Create key is greyed out, your Console role doesn't allow key creation. Ask an admin in that organization.

Anthropic's guide: Get an API key.

Step 4: Add the key to Upsun Dispatch

New to Upsun Dispatch? Paste the key at the Link AI provider step during onboarding.

Already set up:

  1. In Upsun Dispatch, go to Settings > AI model keys.
  2. On the Anthropic row, select Add key. If a key is already there, select Replace key.
  3. Paste the key and save.
  4. If you have more than one provider connected, select Make default on the Anthropic row.

The row shows Connected once Upsun Dispatch verifies the key. From your next run, Upsun Dispatch draws from your monthly credits.

What to know before you rely on it

Credits reset monthly and don't roll over. Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Annual plans still get them monthly.

Runs stop when the balance hits zero. If the organization has no purchased credits, API requests stop until next month's credits arrive. Nothing gets charged to your Claude plan. To keep Upsun Dispatch running, buy credits or turn on auto-reload in Console billing. Your monthly credits are always spent first.

Everyone in the organization shares one balance. Every API key in the linked Console organization draws from the same pool. To cap what Upsun Dispatch can spend, give it its own workspace with a workspace spend limit and create the key there.

Your Claude and Claude Code limits don't change. These credits are separate from the usage you get in the Claude apps.

Troubleshooting

I don't see an API credits section on claude.ai. Check that you're on Max or Team, have been on it for seven days and hold the right role. If you still don't see it, contact Anthropic support. Anthropic is rolling this out in stages.

Upsun Dispatch says my key is invalid. Make sure you copied the full key, starting with sk-ant-, and that it hasn't expired or been revoked on the API keys page.

Runs fail with "Your credit balance is too low". You've used this month's credits. Add credits or turn on auto-reload in Console billing, or wait for the next cycle.

Credits went to the wrong organization. Contact Anthropic support to change the linked organization, then create a new key in the right one.
